The Power of Women’s Self-Help Groups: A Rural Revolution

In the heart of rural Uttarakhand, a quiet revolution is taking place. Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are emerging as powerful catalysts for change, transforming not just individual lives but entire communities.

At JKSS, we’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of these groups. From financial independence to improved health outcomes, the benefits are far-reaching. One success story is Geeta Devi from Dugadda block, who started a small handicraft business with her SHG. Today, she not only supports her family but also employs five other women from her village.

These groups are more than just economic units; they’re safe spaces for women to share, learn, and grow together. They’re challenging age-old stereotypes and reshaping rural dynamics.

As we continue to support and nurture these SHGs, we’re excited about the future they’re crafting – a future where rural women are empowered, confident, and at the forefront of community development.
